Rev. Loren F. Bliese and wife Edith in Addis Adaba, Ethiopia
Rev. Bliese works in Ethiopia planting churches, helping to educate future pastors and overseeing the translation of the Bible into more than 20 Ethiopian languages, while Edith has dedicated herself to supporting a local school they started.
The Blieses retired to Harrisburg, Ore., in 2006 after 44 years of service in Ethiopia, though they still serve as part-time volunteer missionaries, spending up to five months a year in Addis Adaba.
Rev. Bliese's service to the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY) was recognized during the church's 50th anniversary celebration. The church's seminary, where Bliese taught, awarded him an honorary doctorate in language development (pictured above). To learn more about Rev.
