Strong in Faith, Boundless in Love, Bold in Service
At Bethlehem, we believe that faith is a gift from God through Jesus, not something we can achieve or earn. We worship together, study the Bible, and share our joys and struggles in order to care for and grow in the gift of faith God has given us. In living out our faith in community, we find strength and hope for daily living!
In baptism we become a part of God’s family, brothers and sisters in Christ. In our life together, God teaches us how to love each other in the same way we are loved by God. When we discover the difference Christ’s love makes in our lives, we want to reach out and share that same love with others. By our actions, we want to show every person we meet that God loves them too, no matter who they are or what they’ve been through.
We are called to follow Jesus’ example of serving others, especially the poor and oppressed. We do this by giving of our resources: time, talent, and money. Our giving is a response to the abundant giving of God. Currently, we serve the community, both local and global, by growing fresh vegetables for local food pantries, having a monthly "Food Sunday" to collect non-perishable food items for the Maple/Morgan Park Food Pantry, providing meals at the Ronald McDonald House, providing montly meals at SW Chicago PADS, and taking a monthly collection for various local and global non-profits.
